In order to provide young dancers from different countries and regions around the world with a platform for developing friendship, conducting cultural exchange and displaying diversified dances, the International Youth Dance Festival 2008 organised by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, collaborates with Education Forum for Asia, and sponsored by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, will be held from July 4 to July 11, 2008.
A total of 14 non-local dance groups will participate in the Dance Festival. Those groups are from Korea, Slovenia, Estonia, U.S.A., Philippines, Great Britain, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand respectively.
There is a total of 8 local teams, which are: The Macao Conservatory Dance School, Kao Yip Middle School Dance Team, Hong Peng Wa School of Ballet Dance Team, Hou Kong Middle School Dance Team, Regina Dance Group, Macao International Sports and Dance Association for Youths, Macao Moradores School Dance Team, and Sacred Heart Canossian College (Chinese Section) Dance Team respectively.
The Dance festival consists of 3 parts: parade, indoor performances and outdoor performances. The parade is scheduled to start at 5:30 pm on July 5 from Ruins of St. Paul's, through Rua de S. Paulo and Rua da Palha to Senado Square. The indoor performances will be held in Macau Forum I at 8:00 pm on July 6 and July 11 respectively; the outdoor performances will be held at Tap Seac Square at 8:00 pm on July 7 and at Iao Hon Park at 8:00 pm on July 9 respectively. All residents are welcome to the performances.
The admission tickets for indoor performances will be distributed to the public for free from 2:30 pm on June 30 with limited quantity. Each person is limited to two tickets only.
