Description

Searching for missing socks... and the meaning of friendship!

A quest for missing socks and the meaning of friendship come into play in “Little Donkey? a charming musical by Amsterdam’s Theatre Terra. It all starts with a tremendous storm that scatters all the hanging socks! In the meanwhile, “Little Donkey?goes to play with his best friend Yakky the Yak, but is brushed off when Yakky gets invited to play with Ibis, who has many toys. Broken hearted, “Little Donkey?goes off to find scary Marabou’s missing socks, only to find, to his surprise, that the fearsome stork is, after all, a very friendly bird.

“Little Donkey? based on the popular award-winning Dutch series by Rindert Kromhout, features Bunraku-style puppets and spirited songs like Marabou’s rap song or “Little Donkey?s heart wrenching ballad. These adorable life-sized stuffed puppets pull off a very affecting story about the nature of friendship: the idea of having a friend and then having to share him with others is something difficult for many children (and some adults) to comprehend. Without moralizing, “Little Donkey?conveys a very important message: friendship is sometimes fluid, and allowing a friend to have other friends is part of it.
