What to see in Macau

Gardens
In Macau, as the convergence of the East and the West, gardens provide all members of the community with relaxation, recreation and relief from the crowded, busy city.
Churches
Predominantly European baroque, but Oriental and tropical features can still be seen in roofs of Chinese tiles, panels of terra-cotta and Eastern motifs carved on some facades.
Temples
Macau is a rich repository of Chinese culture, preserving the classic architecture of traditional temples, and offering an insight into the beliefs and practices of religions.
Fortresses
In 17th century, fortresses were designed to protect Portuguese settlements against European rivals. Today several forts survive, now converted for peaceful, public use.
Museums
The rich history, embodied by Chinese and Portuguese communities that found a way to live together, makes the specific cultural heritage, as observed in various museums.
Typical Architectures
Besides the general tourist sites, Macau possesses a variety of other historical interests, thanks to its own political and historic backgrounds.
Squares
Visitors can always discover squares of different styles at every corners in Macau, where they will be able to sense other aspects of the local life.
Trails
There are numerous trails winding through the hills in Macau, Taipa and Coloane, for walks of 30 minutes to three hours. Well posted with pavilions and fitness circuits.
