Situated on the tranquil and beautiful Taipa Island in Macau, the Macau University of Science and Technology (“MUST”) is the first comprehensive university established after the turnover of Macao to the People’s Republic of China. Guided by an educational philosophy of “Promoting Cultural Exchanges, Nurturing Intellectual Growth, Fostering Economic Development and Furthering Social Progress,” and was established with the approval and cooperation of the Macao Special Administrative Region. MUST is working toward becoming a world renowned university. The University puts a strong emphasis on cultural pluralism and both general education and professional education. Our programs are designed to develop the whole person while ensuring rigorous intellectual content. We also have the goal of training our students to become responsible citizens. The University offers both full-time and part-time programs.
MUST occupies a total of 212,000 square meters. It is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure including classroom buildings, faculty and staff office buildings, and a high technology complex. All of these give a strong sense of modernization. An Olympic-standard stadium and a football field are available to the students and the public. MUST is equipped with the most advanced computer network, using broad-band optical fiber technology, which allows wireless access to the Internet. In addition, a digitized library, state-of-the-art classrooms and labs, and a moot court provide an excellent environment in which students can learn. A new library building, an indoor gym, a database center and other new facilities are planned to ensure that students have a strong learning and living environment.
MUST has established close ties with renowned universities in China and has worked to integrate educational resources with them. Currently, MUST has four faculties: the Faculty of Information Technology, the Faculty of Management and Administration, the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Chinese Medicine. Our General Studies programs, the School of Graduate Studies and the School of Continuing Studies offer a broad range of programs. All programs provided by MUST have been approved by the Macao SAR. MUST is authorized to award Ph.D. degrees, master degrees and bachelor degrees. The University enrolls a total of 5,000 full-time students (among them nearly 1,000 are in the master and Ph.D. programs.) MUST recruits students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Southeast Asian countries as well as 20 provinces and cities in China for the undergraduate and graduate programs. College equivalent programs and pre-university programs are provided to meet the varying needs of different students.
