It is one of the three major hospitals in Macau, founded in 1871. Early management of institutions gave its "Mirror Lake hospital" name. Along with the charitable cause, in 1942 the Macao government registed the name "Mirror Lake Hospital Charity"; in the year 2002, Macau government granted it with the caring Order of Merit
