Rodolfo Avila will return to the Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge cockpit for the extra round of Asia Supercar Challenge (ASCC) at Shanghai International Circuit. The Macanese driver got an invitation from Italian top team Mastercar and doesn't want to escape the opportunity of repeating the Zhuhai's Asia GT race podium.

"We need to decide quickly what I am going to do this season, and I couldn't reject the offer. This is a magnificent chance to evaluate my odds here. Mastercar won last year championship and they have a very good reputation. I'd like to return to Asia motor sport scene but I'll just do it if we have a winner package", said Avila.

In 2004 the Macanese driver was the first to win an official race at 5.4 km state-of-the-art Shanghai circuit but Avila doesn't rank his changes too high. "I don't know the really level of my opponents. At the end of the day, I'll do my best to bring home a good result. This is just my second race at the wheel of a GT car", held the 21 years old driver from Macau SAR.
Supercar Club Hong Kong established the Asia Supercar Challenge and has been the organiser of the GT race series since 2003. ASCC is sanctioned by the FIA as an Asia Zone International Event, and is one of the Asian Zone's top GT class racing events. This is the sixth year for the ASCC, where all the competing race cars are GT3 class vehicles, this includes Porsche 996 Cup/997 GT3, Ferrari 360/430 Challenge, Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and Lamborghini Gallardo GT3.

ASCC 2008 race events will be held in various race circuits including Shanghai, Zhuhai, Chengdu, Malaysia and Macau. With ASCC joining CFO and AFOS race series, this will bring top spectacular GT racing to the mass population in China and Asia.

Due to an unexpected change of events, the first races of the Asia Supercar Challenge at Shanghai International Circuit has now been brought forward from April 19-20th, to April 17-18th.
