Willy Wang, who also bagged the gold in last year's World Wushu Championship, notched 9.65 points to beat Pam Quoc Khanh of Vietnam who had 9.64. Wang also defeated Hong Kong’s He Jiing De (9.63) in nandao (Southern single-edged sword).

"Wang in addition to his gold medal, also bagged a silver medal in his favorite event — the nanquan (Southern fist) — won by China’s Huang Guangyuan (9.64-9.65 points)," the report said.

Four other members of Team Philippines, meanwhile, won the silver medals. They are Mariane Mariano (60 kg), Jason Domingo (48 kg), Dembert Arcita (52 kg) and Benjie Rivera (60 kg).

Mariano won the gold medal in last year’s Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.
